Creating a village

We are seeking a diverse group of hosts who have a compassionate, empathetic heart and are continuously educating themselves on the barriers many of our guests go through.

Once a host shows interest there are few things that will happen:

1.       A background check will be conducted on every adult in the household. Disclaimer: Although we do run background checks on all adults in the program, having a criminal record does not exclude a host from eligibility. 

2.      There will be a site visit to verify the safety of the home, as well as checking off any special accommodations it may have (updated electrical, how many stairs a home has etc.).

3.      Discussion regarding added liability to the home and what that entails.

4.      Discussion surrounding the level of comfort a medically complex child may have.

5.      Discuss the importance of Inclusion, Diversity and Equity, and provide guidance on ways to make a home welcoming for guests utilizing our services.

When a host and guest have been paired, both parties will sign a contract in order to be as transparent as possible with the rules, policies, guidelines and intent of Connect to Care and the host.
